This year we spent Thanksgiving at home because I had to work the day after and we thought we were going to have to spend it alone, but my Sister Heidi surprised us and came to spend it with us!!! We had a great day and enjoyed being together.

Cheer Competition

This past weekend Ashlee went to her first cheerleading competition in Colorado Springs. Bill and I went to watch. I had a blast watching her cheer. She loves it and it is so exciting for me to get to watch her. Her team, the Montrose Indians, took 1st place in the Co-Ed Division. They were so excited.

Whatta Water Leak!

Let's just say the lawn was extremely green this year and our water bill kept getting higher and higher. I was thinking wow... the City of Montrose is getting really pricey for some water. It seems as if we had a leak in our main water line that goes from the back of the house to the garage. There must have been a crack in the pipe that slowly over the summer kept getting worse and worse till it busted and the meter ran out of control. We wouldn't have known if the meter reader from the city would not have left a note for us. So a few days after we had an excavator and a plummer out to fix the problem. What a project. Here are some pics of the fun day.

Weekend Warriors

It was a water leak that gave cause for this fun multi-weekend project. When I came home from Utah in July and walked in the house I noticed that the linoleum in the house had a few bubbles in it. We couldn't figure out what the issue was but a few days later when I looked under the kitchen sink we realized that we had a massive water leak. So a month later, after the insurance claim had been settled we had a lot of work to do. The situation was that we could pay to have someone come in and do the work and have linoleum again, or for the same cost, if we did the work ourselves, we could tile a lot more square footage. Well it sounded like a good idea, except you know me (and my Mom). We got to talking and decided that if the kitchen was going to be tore up, we might as well really get it torn up. So we decided to move the cabinets from where they were and relocate them to the side wall which completely opened up the kitchen. Then Bill and I decided that we would tile the counter tops because it would be cheaper than replacing them. Then one thing led to another and thus we ended up with a change in the kitchen layout, new tile counter tops, and a new kitchen, dining, family room, bathroom, hallway and entry way tiled floor. We still have some finish work to do but we had to take a rest after four solid weeks of work. Some people just can leave well enough alone!

1st Football Game

On September 3rd 2010 Ashlee cheered in her first home game. The crowd in Montrose is huge and loud, and fun. It was a blast to watch her. First of all she sang the National Anthem to begin the game, then she ran down to the end zone to join the squad to welcome the football team, then ran back to her spot for the fight song. She was put in the front as a sophomore because she is one of the only ones who knows all the cheers. I have to tell you that I got a little teary eyed several times watching her cheer, partly because I was so excited that she was having so much fun like I did when I cheered, but mostly because I was such a proud Mama!
